In the views of modern endocrinology, hormones secreted from endocrine organs or tissues seem to work in an integrative (network or pathways) rather than a disintegrative style. Skin with hypodermis (subcutaneous fat), muscle, bone, ovary, pancreas, and fat tissue hormones have feedback loops to regulate the physiology of each other. In fact, the majority of physiological tasks initiate the interplay between organs.
Building on the current knowledge, we would like to increase our understanding of the molecular pathways regulating endocrine organs and tissues - drawing a holistic view of the endocrine system.
The following subjects among others are being sought:
- Skin endocrine interplay with organs such as the brain, endocrine system, and immune system among others.
- Bone endocrine interplay with muscle, brain, adipose, testicles, kidneys, and pancreas.
- Muscle endocrine interplay with bone, brain, liver, and adipose tissue.
- Adipose tissue endocrine interplay with the brain (β-amyloid inhibition by adiponectin), bone, and pancreas (insulin resistance)
- Pancreas endocrine interplay with bone, muscle, adipose tissue, brain, and liver.
- Brain endocrine interplay with testis, adipose, pancreas, brain, and ovary.
- Exercise endocrine interplay with bone, brain, liver, pancreas, muscle, and adipose tissue.
