Frontiers have organized a series of Research Topics to highlight the latest advancements in science to be at the forefront of science in different fields of research. This specific editorial initiative, led by Prof. Ranieri Cancedda, Chief Editor of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine section, together with Prof. J. Mary Murphy and Prof. Martijn van Griensven, is focused on new insights, novel developments, current challenges, latest discoveries, recent advances, and future perspectives in the field.The Research Topic solicits brief, forward-looking contributions from the editorial board members that describe the state of the art, outlining recent developments and major achieved accomplishments, future challenges, and how to address those challenges to move the field forward.
