Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death worldwide. An appropriate staging is mandatory in order to define a tailored approach for each patient. Patients with locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) represent a widely heterogeneous group of patients with lung cancers, and invasion of the chest wall and/or mediastinal organs with N2 disease. Even the involvement of N2 lymph nodes includes different subpopulations (single-, multi-level, and bulky disease). Due to this heterogeneity, the management of those patients poses a real challenge for surgeons, oncologists, and radiation oncologists.This topic aims to offer a comprehensive overview of current treatments for patients with locally advanced NSCLC. Based on the model of a multidisciplinary team discussion, we invite thoracic surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists to share their opinions and present studies with long-term follow-up data inclusive patient-reported outcomes.Submissions may include original research manuscripts, reviews, and perspectives on this important topic.
